Game Of The Week
It has come to my attention that long-time, Tournament Director (TD), Dean Brown has decided to retire from organizing and running chess events, starting May 1st.
He was the TD at my 1st chess event, the February Flatulence, in 1998 and was the most common TD, by a long shot, for whom I have played, directing 384 tournaments (since Jan. 1, 1991). He did a great job and will be missed.
Since April has a rare 5th Tuesday (4/29), I am hoping to talk Dean into running one last USCF-rated, G30, Swiss for the Colorado Springs Chess Club, as his retirement party. Chick-fil-A has agreed to provide chicken sandwiches for everyone who stops by from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm to honor Dean. The chess will start after 7:00 pm.
Please finish your free chicken sandwiches prior to the start of the chess event, as eating during your games could be considered annoying.
We wouldn't want a repeat of the Doritios incident between Buck and I that occurred at one of the Cabin Fever Reliever events Dean directed. Dean was able to resolve the dispute so that the game could continue. However, there was significant damage to the tournament site.
Here is the position after I fell through the wall. It is white to move. Fortunately, Dean was able to step in and find the right continuation to bring home the point for me.
White to move.
