Game Of The Week
A couple years back, I came up with a method to organize chess tactics. I called it the DROP Method (http://cschess.webs.com/apps/blog/categories/show/1378181-drop-method). The DROP method is an acronym for the basic kinds of tactics. It is...

Game Of The Week
This week's game comes from one of my many losses this year. I have had a tradition of publishing 4 losses each chess season. I noticed that, with 3 newsletters left this year, I only had published 3 losses this year. So, I needed one more to keep the tradition going.

Game Of The Week
Once upon a time there was a tortoise who, boasting how he could play chess better than anyone else, was forever teasing the other tortoise for its slowness. Then one day, the other tortoise answered back: “Who do you think you are? There’s no denying you’re good, but even you can be beaten!” The tortoise squealed with...

Game Of The Week
This week's game comes from the Colorado Springs Chess Club's Wednesday Panera event. I got paired with Ken MacRae in the final round. I had never played Ken before. So, I didn't know what to expect. I just knew he must be doing as well as I was in this tournament, and I should not take him lightly.

Game Of The Week
This week's game comes from the May Panera Wednesday tournament. I got to play David Silva, who just recently moved to Colorado Springs. It is always a pleasure to play someone new, as I tend to stay more focused and play better chess. I want to put a good face on Colorado Springs chess and impress our newcome...

Game Of The Week
This week's game comes from my horrendous results in April. I had won 18 out of 20 games in the 1st quarter of 2014 for a winning percentage of 90%. However, those stellar numbers were going come to a screeching halt. In April, I won only 6 of 11 games for a winning percentage of 55%.

This week's game comes from my 1000th over-the-board (OTB) chess victory!
I started playing at the Colorado Springs Chess Club on May 27,1997, and it has taken until this game to rack up 1,000 wins. I may not have been the fastest chess pl...

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Tim Brennan has resigned.
